Her performance in the theater are also well-known, particularly her performances in the role of Emmie Thbodeaux in Caroline or Change, a Broadway musical Caroline or Change (2004) that earned her an award for the Tony Award Best Featured actress in the musical. Her nomination was to win an award for the Tony Award Best Featured actor in a production of the Broadway revival A Raisin in the Sun.
