As a biological concept, an animal, or human is one who has fully developed. The term adult is employed in relation to human beings in order to define moral and social concepts. A legal adult, in contrast to "minors" or "non-adults can be defined as someone over the age of majority and is thus considered to be independent, responsible as well as autonomous. It is also possible to view them as an "major". The age for achieving legal adulthood is 18, but the definition can vary based on laws, countries as well as the stage of psychological development.

This includes muscle strength in addition to reflex time, the senses, and heart functioning.
